AbortionHaving an AbortionIn Texas, you can only have an abortion up until 24 weeks (6 months) of pregnancy. You can have an abortion after 24 weeks ONLY if you have a medical emergency. If you are under the age of 18, a doctor will not perform an abortion for you unless EITHER you obtain written consent from one of your parents or legal guardians OR you go to court and get a judicial bypass. If you are under the age of 18, this is the form your parent or guardian must use to give consent for you to have an abortion. For more information or to get legal help with a judicial bypass, see the Judicial Bypass page or call 1-866-999-5263. Financial Assistance
Many clinics in Texas have some funding available for low income minors to assist with the cost of the abortion procedure. Some clinics work with state-wide funding sources such as the Lilith Fund and Texas Equal Access. Other clinics participate in the national pledge monies offered through Planned Parenthood or the Naitonal Abortion Federation. When making your appointment, ask whether the clinic has financial assistance available. See Find a Clinic for a list of clinics that offer financial aid. National Abortion Federation Lilith Fund |
