Stories from Teens

Here are some stories about what other pregnant teens have gone through before they called Jane's Due Process for help. Call us at 1-866-www-jane, and we can help you, too.

"Her mother has already taken her out of school to send her to an 'alternative' school and has started buying baby clothes. The girl wants an abortion and wants to go back to her own school. Her mother has no interest in what the girl wants to do or how this pregnancy will affect her. She is only 5 weeks along (in her pregnancy)."

"I'm attending a high school that offers day care. But I can't go through what I did when I was pregnant with my son. The teachers wouldn't look me in the eye. They didn't expect me to finish my homework. When I really started to show, the school told me that I needed to attend night classes or transfer. There are certain courses that I need to take to get into college."
- 17 year old mother

"I don't know where my dad is, but he's around somewhere close.  But we don't get along.  He's the reason why I ended up having my daughter.  He wouldn't help me get an abortion then, and I don't think he would now.  He won't even help me enroll in school.  I'm supposed to have a legal guardian, but I've never met her.  I can't afford to have another baby.  I'm having a hard time finding another job.  All I can do is baby sit my sister's kids.  I really want to go back to school."
