National Honor SocietyMany honor societies have rules against sex before marriage. An official school organization may NOT use pregnancy as the only way of deciding who has had sex before marriage. If a school organization does not ask all members who have had sex to leave, then it cannot keep pregnant and parenting students from participating. The National Honor Society cannot keep pregnant and parenting students from joining. You cannot be kept out of or expelled from NHS because you are pregnant or have had a baby. Also, you cannot be penalized because you had or plan to have an abortion. If you are pregnant and your school is not allowing you to participate in NHS or another honor society, you can call the Jane's Due Process legal hotline at 1-866-www-jane or 1-866-999-5263 for assistance. |
