Athletics and Physical Ed

You have the same right to be a part of physical education (gym class) and school sports teams that all other students have.  Getting pregnant does NOT change this.  Your school cannot legally keep you from playing because you are pregnant or parenting, or because you had an abortion.

You may sit out from activities if your doctor decides you should not be active because of a medical condition, whether or not that medical condition is related to your pregnancy.  If you are healthy and able to participate, you are allowed to be a part of all school activities like varsity soccer, intramural basketball, and dance team.

If you are pregnant and your school is not allowing you to participate in athletics and physical education, call the Jane's Due Process legal hotline at 1-866-www-jane or 1-866-999-5263 for assistance.
